COVID-19 Safety Information for Event Organizers

We’re excited to welcome you back to The Cultch!

The health and safety of our staff and visitors are important to us. We have implemented new safety protocols and guidelines as we begin to safely open our facilities for rentals.

Please read the following information carefully.

For your safety, the Cultch has implemented the following changes:

  • Significant reduction in venue capacities
  • Increased cleaning and disinfecting measures of the venue and equipment
  • New safety procedures for event organizers, backstage visitors and artists.

Event Planning

  • All event organizers must submit an event-specific COVID-19 Safety Plan during the planning process that outlines the steps you will take to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of all the renting organization’s artists, crew and staff. Events are not confirmed until this plan has been approved.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that your team is aware of your event-specific Safety Plan and that they observe these policies while at the Cultch.
  • All event organizers must be aware and abide by the BC Public Health Order on Gatherings and Events and WorksafeBC’s COVID-19 Protocols for the Performing Arts.
  • For assistance with planning your event and your COVID-19 Safety Plan, please contact our COVID-19 Safety Team, and refer to the additional resources below.

Prior to your arrival

  • All persons visiting The Cultch must be able to answer “no” to all three of the following questions:
    • 1. Have you, or a member of your household, experienced any flu-like or cold symptoms within the last 14 days? (Click here for the BC CDC symptom list)
    • 2. Have you, or members of your household, had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or is awaiting COVID-19 results within the last 14 days?
    • 3. Have you, or members of your household, travelled internationally within the last 14 days, including to the USA?
  • The Rentals Manager will send a Cultch  COVID-19 Checklist prior to your scheduled event to all event participants.
  • We expect all members of the team to fill out a form. If for some reason they are unable to complete the form before entering the building, there will be forms available to fill out at the venue.
  • The Cultch reserves the right to cancel the event at the expense of the client should anyone on your team refuse to fill out a form

Arriving at The Cultch

  • Please be aware that you may have limited access to common areas or other parts of the venue. As the Cultch operates various spaces we will be partitioning these spaces as necessary in order to keep groups separated. Please be sure to read the signage posted throughout the building.

Inside The Cultch

  • All guests and artists are expected to wear a mask anytime that they are not performing or at their designated socially distant work station. Disposable masks will be available for anyone who needs one.
  • Visitors and artists are encouraged to bring non-glassware bottles from home for water. We recommend that meal breaks are taken in distanced locations throughout the building, or outside, when possible.
  • Communal sharing/serving of food is prohibited.
  • Please respect posted capacity limits for washrooms and greenrooms.
  • Remember to practice good hand hygiene and wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds in hot soapy water. In addition to the washrooms, there is hand-sanitizer available throughout the building.
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbows or a tissue and wash or sanitize your hands afterwards.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Please note that these safety measures will be reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis to align with the guidelines provided by the province of British Columbia.
