“Music resounded in the formless void as darkness covered the face of the deep”
A dimly lit stage reveals the shadow of the subconscious as a lonely accordion begins to play. This is the mind of Daseina, a woman who is struggling with the quiet appeals and roaring ignominities of a past riddled with wrongs. In attempts to bridle her culpability and a muddled sense of self, she dances with guilt and reflects on the nature of life, authenticity, and her place in the labyrinthine universe.
Through live tango dance performance, the original score composed by Yusif Bayramov is supported by artful renditions of tango’s greatest artists, including Astor Piazzolla, Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan Carlos Cobián, and Juan d’Arienzo. Written by Isabel Miller Iparraguirre, this piece is a provocative exploration of existence and the iconic paradigms of tango culture.
