The Search Party (Vancouver)
Written by Aaron Posner

From The Search Party— producer of the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning shows The Father and Bunny—comes Stupid F*cking Bird by American playwright Aaron Posner. Sort of adapted from Chekhov’s The Seagull, Posner’s contemporary retelling of the comedic tragedy was originally produced by Woolly Mammoth Theatre Co. With original songs, live music, and irreverent wit this multi-generational tale of unrequited love, missed opportunities, and lost dreams is bitingly contemporary; revealing the danger in our own desires and the eternal (and elusive) pursuit of happiness.

Rave Reviews for The Search Party Productions

“Because standing up for everything makes standing ovations meaningless, I hardly ever give them. But I was on my feet at the end of Bunny before I knew it — and I was hollering, “Brava! Brava! Brava!”

Colin Thomas

“Vancouver’s newest theatre company is already proving they’re a force to be reckoned with, debuting with a show as disarming to the cast as it is to the audience.”

Becca Clarkson, SAD Magazine

“With a first production as wonderful as this, The Search Party are most certainly one to watch going forwards.”

Abigail Bryant, Plays to See

“The expletive smack in the middle of the title of Aaron Posner’s “sort of” adaptation of “The Seagull” is not there for decoration, or even provocation. It is wholly emblematic of Mr. Posner’s raw, theatrically audacious version of this Chekhov classic.”

“The script is new and crackling, at once incisive, poignant and darkly funny.”

“American playwriting is back on a roll’: Aaron Posner’s Stupid F*cking Bird is ‘theatrically illuminating”

“Stupid F*cking Bird will captivate you with its unexpected insights into the human capacity for love, misery, and creative self expression”
