Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) is an exuberant comedy by Ann-Marie MacDonald, and Governor General’s Award winner.  Were Shakespeare’s classic tragedies “Othello” and “Romeo and Juliet” originally comedies that got lost in translation?  That’s what Constance, a young English literature prof from Queen’s University believes.  So begins her comedic search for the ‘lost fool’, and possibly herself, through a modern rabbit hole with the intrepid help – and often hindrance – of fair Juliet and wise Desdemona.   Her attempts to save the heroines from their harrowing fates result in a wild ride – sword fighting, dancing, disguises – it’s a crazy intelligent romp!
