The holiday hit returns!
In Ronnie Burkett’s Little Dickens, the cast of The Daisy Theatre take on the beloved holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, in the merriest marionette mash-up ever. Faded Daisy diva, Esmé Massengill, plays the role of miserly, drunken, bitter Esmé Scrooge, encountering all your Daisy favourites (as Dickens’ familiar characters!) on her journey to redemption.
A raucous, adults-only holiday treat, Little Dickens combines Burkett’s mastery of marionette puppetry, playful songs, and improvisation!
It was more than good. To borrow the vernacular consistently used throughout this marionette show, it was f…ing brilliant”— Christine Pilgrim, Vancouver Presents
In terms of sheer skill and charisma, Burkett is one of the most extraordinary performers you’ll ever see”—Colin Thomas
Little Dickens is not for children but it’s really, really terrific entertainment for open-minded, open-hearted adults”— Jo Ledingham
Just under two hours of fast-paced schtick, zippy one-liners, and imaginatively-designed musical number” —Chris Shalom, Vancouver Weekly
For so many years, the most amazing people have found their way to The Cultch to watch my puppet shows, be they dark and brooding or filthy and frothy. There’s a generosity of spirit there that I never take for granted. It’s like coming home. Hands down, the best audiences I’ve ever encountered, anywhere. And you can tell Toronto I said so” — Ronnie Burkett, in conversation with Vancouver Presents
Little Dickens: The Daisy Theatre Presents A Christmas Carol’s unmatched puppetry and vaudevillian details make it a real gift”—Kathleen Oliver, The Georgia Straight
The familiar characters from his bizarre repertoire ring a showbiz variation on Dickens’ tale that’s…warmer and fuzzier in a Christmassy way, punctuated by raunchy asides and moments of sheer Burkettian brilliance”—Jerry Wasserman, The Vancouver Sun
