New Cackle Sisters: Kitchen Chicken

York Theatre

A musical and culinary tour de force.

The creators of L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres Performs Tom Waits and Cabaret Brise-Jour return with a freshly cooked-up kitchen chronicle. In New Cackle Sisters: Kitchen Chicken, the songs of the American ‘30s yodel queens The Cackle Sisters contend with the ovens for an improbable meal. Staggeringly beautiful, the acts fly by at an astonishingly fast pace while the team hustles to roast a chicken, mash potatoes, and prepare appetizers, which may or may not eventually be served up.

If you ever have the opportunity to see L’Orchestre d’Hommes-Orchestres don’t miss them” — Mooney on Theatre

Everybody knows that the best parties always wind up in the kitchen. Kitchen Chicken is absolutely delightful, a visual and aural cornucopia of a down-home kitchen jamboree.”—Mooney on Theatre

What we do has often been described as music that you can see…there’s another world happening on-stage in addition to the music—which is the kitchen, and the cooking that takes place throughout the show. The music itself transforms quietly too, moving toward something pretty unexpected when you think of the Sisters’ sound.” — The Georgia Straight

Un joyeux tintamarre musical théâtralisé pour repas gaillard à saisir au vol !” —Gratianne Daum, La Boussole
