1415_presentation_horiz_4-3_bruceLegendary funnyman and Kid in the Hall, Bruce McCulloch, is touring Canada to launch his new book Let’s Start a Riot: How A Young Drunk Punk Became A Hollywood Dad and will perform a one-night-only special live show at the York Theatre!

Young Drunk Punk combines stand-up, live music, and assorted autobiographical insights, showcasing McCulloch’s signature wit. The performance chronicles his journey from his wild early days as a ‘young punk’ in 80s Alberta, to his flannel plaid days in 90s Toronto, to becoming a ‘pajama-clad dad’ in the Hollywood Hills. Following hot on the heels of the live show and book incarnations, Young Drunk Punk will soon hit the television airwaves as a new comedy series about McCulloch’s youth in Calgary.

The live show features McCulloch’s lifelong musical collaborator, Brian Connelly of Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet and Atomic 7 fame, and is directed by One Yellow Rabbit’s Blake Brooker. Peppered with moments of surprising poignancy, this evening of comedy, which sold out its run here in January 2014, proves that although this infamous Kid may be all grown up, his singular brand of humour and signature wit remain firmly intact.

Dark, raunchy, surreal and hilarious, often all at once… McCulloch’s comic rhythm has become a familiar friend, and seeing it employed live is a treat.” – Erika Thorkelson, Vancouver Sun

Triumphant… a great, comedy-gold night” – Mike Usinger, Georgia Straight
