“There has never been a more important time than now to share the vision of this festival. TRANSFORM Cabaret Festival began as a way to create relationships and collaborations between artists, companies, and communities. The need for this work is deepened by the current realities that could pull us apart rather than bring us together. Doing the Festival this year is a celebration of our resilience, our determination, and our dedication to our community. With film crews in London (UK), Toronto (ON), Moncton (NB), Montreal (QC), Melbourne (AUS), and these Unceded Coast Salish Territories (Vancouver, BC) we bring the world to your living room. Thank you for joining us at the Festival!”

Cultchcast: Shigematsu Shoots the Shit
This season, local favourite Tetsuro Shigematsu hosts a brand new Cultch podcast! Before he created some of your favourite shows (Empire of the Son, 1 Hour Photo, and Kuroko) Tetsuro was the host of CBC Radio One’s former afternoon series The Roundup. His experiences as an artist, writer, performer, and broadcaster make him the perfect host to have in-depth conversations with a variety of artists from our season.
with special guest, Hot Brown Honey’s Lisa Fa’alafi
with special guest, The Darlings’ Continental Breakfast (Chris Reed)
Created by Sidonie Adamson, Renee Mak, and Maria Sample
This 30-minute digital circus show is a collaborative exploration into the nostalgia of live performing arts. This immersive, behind-the-scenes experience celebrates local Vancouver artists, and all of the things that make the performing arts possible while reaching towards a more diverse future for circus arts. Filming all around The Cultch, a group of unbelievable circus artists fill the empty theatre with circus magic for you to enjoy anytime during the festival!
A night out at The Cultch is going to be different, hopefully just for this season.
What are your favourite theatre rituals? What are the rituals you miss most right now?
Maybe it’s something you do before the show starts, or what you do afterwards. Maybe it’s something you wear, or who you are with.
#2: Write a note to an artist.
Think back through your memory archive of shows at The Cultch and/or the York.
Is there a work or an artist that you immediately think of?
What/who is it and why?
How did it make you feel?

Caffe La Tana
La Tana is a grocery store, neighbourhood cafe, and pasta house stocked with the finest imported Italian goods, and serving house-made pastas, pastries, and strong, traditional espresso. Translated from “the den”, La Tana’s Italian name offers a nod and a home to the namesake fox of sister restaurant Savio Volpe, becoming a gathering place on Vancouver’s Commercial Drive.
