kyla is grateful for all opportunities to share her craft. her work contains feelings of home, (un)belonging, nostalgia and grief, and is rooted in her love of the world and people around her. kyla believes that even ordinary and everyday occurrences are worthy of sweeping, grand, poetic attention. mostly, she hopes her work makes you feel something.
Allysa Pierre (they/them) is a multifaceted queer, multi-disciplinary artist. Their creative journey is a testament to their commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity within the art world. Pierre’s artistic odyssey began with the conception of a series of self-directed art exhibitions in unconventional spaces across Edmonton’s city center. Notable exhibitions such as Enigma (2017), ᐋᒋᒧᐃᐧᐣ – Acimowin (2018), GreenHome (2018), and F**k It (2019) served as catalysts for Pierre’s evolution as a politically engaged artist. Their work transcends traditional boundaries, encompassing sculpture, photography, collage, and curatorial practice, each piece serving as a poignant commentary on issues of identity, privilege, and societal norms. Pierre’s contributions to the art world have garnered widespread recognition, with features in esteemed publications such as Canadian Art, The Griff, and Your Friends Collective.
