I was raised in Vancouver British Columbia, and while struggling with shyness, I found a comfortable way to relate to my surroundings through art. As a youth, I was given opportunities to receive private instruction from art teachers and career artists. These formal teachings stressed the importance of technique, materials, and realism in drawing and painting. I later explored materials in a less structured way, incorporating anatomical movement and abstract expression in charcoal and other media. Over time I found a balance between realism and the abstract, and was offered scholarship classes, awards, and exhibitions across Canada and in the USA.

I continued with various creative projects while predominantly studying bodywork over a 22 year career as a Registered Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor. The creation of a home art studio helped broaden and enrich my explorations in abstract/representational mixed media when I began formally showing my paintings in 2017. The success of these creative experiences cemented the passion for sharing my artistic pursuits. As much as I’m inspired by intricacies of the body, I’m also very much influenced by other natural elements, flora and landscapes, in finding a voice regarding environmental concerns.

I hope to awaken a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the delicate balance that exists between us, and the world we inhabit. A visual language through which I can express concerns, spark conversations, and inspire positive change. I greatly values the opportunity for introspection and the sharing of what emerges in my East Vancouver studio, and through exhibitions in Canada and internationally. Supporting and networking with the local arts community has also been important to me, with many inspiring engagements in Vancouver, New Westminster, and the interior of BC.
